On September 10, 2026, SHRM Greater Greensboro proudly celebrated eight decades of advancing the HR profession, strengthening workplaces, and serving the Greater Greensboro community.

The evening included several unforgettable moments:

️Greensboro Mayor Pro Tem Denise Roth presented a proclamation officially recognizing September 10, 2026, as SHRM Greater Greensboro Day.

Sean N. Woodroffe, SHRM-SCP, SHRM Board Chair-Elect, joined us and received a North Carolina flag that had flown over the State Capitol as a symbol of support from North Carolina’s HR community.

Greensboro civic and business leader Mae Douglas received our Lifetime Achievement Award and an honorary lifetime membership in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to human resources and the community.

We announced the creation of a Student Relations Director position on our Board of Directors, strengthening the connection between SHRM Greater Greensboro, area colleges and universities, students, and emerging HR professionals.

Together, we also raised more than $300 for the SHRM Foundation, supporting HR education, scholarships, research, and professional development.

From our beginning as the Personnel Association of the Greensboro Area in 1946 to the vibrant chapter we are today, our story has been shaped by generations of dedicated HR professionals and community leaders.
