“Understanding & Eliminating Implicit Bias in Hiring, Performance Evaluations & Exit Interviews”

Presented By:  Jada Monica Drew, CEO of Social Designs

During this interactive presentation, Jada Monica Drew will teach participants steps for sharpening their inclusive edge specifically in the area of implicit bias.

Many studies have indicated that implicit biases affect individuals’ attitudes and action, thus creating real-world implications, even though individuals may not even be aware that those biases exist within themselves. Notably, implicit biases have been shown to overshadow individuals’ stated commitments to equality and fairness, thereby producing behavior that diverges from the explicit attitudes that many people profess. This presentation challenges Human Resource professionals to uncover blind spots that may hinder professional growth and organizational sustainability. HR professionals are in a pivotal role of supporting the growth of organizations and the growth of employees. However, the growth of the HR professionals is equally important. Therefore, together we will unpack the scientific, social, and individual implications of implicit bias in an engaging and collaborative way using the Social Designs 4 C’s* learning approach.

Learning Goals:

  • You will learn more about yourself and how you communicate to those on your team and in your organization.
  • You will learn how to acknowledge your blind spots and biases in an effective and inclusive manner.
  • You will learn how to apply inclusive recruitment and retention best practices.

Approved for 1 HRCI General Credit and SHRM Certification Credit
