Q -Why is HRMAG a 100% SHRM chapter?
A - For three reasons: to increase the value of HRMAG membership, maintain a high level of programs and services, and to give HRMAG more opportunities to reach SHRM members who are not affiliated with a local chapter. For more detail on each of these, click here.

Benefits of Membership
Q - What are the benefits to becoming a national SHRM member?

Q -What are the benefits of HRMAG membership?
A - HRMAG membership gives you opportunities to connect with local HR professionals that you do not get with national SHRM membership alone. The value our members receive from networking and building professional relationships with their peers is immeasurable. HRMAG membership also gives you access to up to 9 HRCI accredited programs a year.
  
 
Membership Dues
Q - How much is SHRM Membership?
A – The current cost is $199 per year.
 
Q -How much is HRMAG Membership?
A – The current cost is $135 per year.
 
Q -I’m not sure I can pay the annual dues for both HRMAG and SHRM. Has the HRMAG board considered offering an alternative membership option?
A - Yes, HRMAG’s board is reviewing alternative dues structures to determine which ones will be the best fit for our members as we move forward. However, the current fee of $135 per year to attend 10 meetings, up to 9 of which offer HRCI credit, is a very good value at $13.50 per meeting. 
 
Q -Will I receive a discount for my SHRM membership since I am also a member of HRMAG or vice versa?
A - There is currently no discount for having membership in both organizations. 
 
Payment of Membership Dues
 
Q -If my SHRM and HRMAG memberships renew at the same time, can I pay both with one check?
A – No, not at this time. However, SHRM is working on technology and processes to allow its members to do this, but currently it is a work in progress.
 
Requirements for Membership
Q -What are the requirements for HRMAG membership?
A - To see the requirements for HRMAG membership, click here and see Membership Requirements. Remember, when you join/renew you must also be a SHRM member.
 
Q -What are the requirements for SHRM membership?
A - Generally, if you meet the requirements of HRMAG membership, you also meet the requirements of SHRM membership. There are three categories of SHRM membership; click here to see them defined.
 
Q - Is SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification required for SHRM membership?
A - No, certification is not required for SHRM membership. If you meet the requirements of HRMAG membership, you also meet the requirements of SHRM membership.
 
Q - Does my category of SHRM membership impact my HRMAG membership eligibility or my ability to serve in leadership positions in HRMAG?
A - Your SHRM membership type (Professional, General, or Associate) does not impact your HRMAG membership or your ability to serve in leadership positions with HRMAG.  As long as you hold a membership with SHRM (of any kind), you may be a member of HRMAG or serve in a leadership position.
